Mac Soft and Gentle Review!

Hey guys!

So again I’m reviewing another high end cult beauty favourite. I know I have done a lot of these lately but I’ve just been enjoying trying out some ‘staple’ products.

Recently I bought Macs Soft And Gentle for £24. It is a gilded peach bronze toned highlighter with Alot of shimmer and sheen. It is very intense so if you prefer more of a suttle/ natural highlight I would steer clear of this. It does contain a lot of glitter which does tend to fall down your face during the day.
It’s very soft (great pun there😂) and buttery. I don’t find it cakes up on my face at all! It has such a smooth application that stays throughout the day. It doesn’t fade at all, with or without primer.

The packaging is very sturdy so the product is safe if you were ever to drop it, something I don’t recommend.

A little of this goes a very long way so the product will last for a long time. It is build able however.

It suits a lot of skin tones and gives off a healthy, radiant glow. It is a very finely milled powder so it does not go chunky at all!

Have you tried soft and gentle? What are your thoughts?

ALLERGIC TO MAC?

Hey everyone!

Bit of a spontaneous post but I just wanted to share my story of my allergic reaction to Mac invade anyone find them self in the same situation. Personally I found it reassuring to know I wasn’t the only one.

On Sunday a post went up about Mac Fix Plus  Read here. I spent the week testing out my new product and by Thursday night after using it daily for 3 days my skin broke out in a red rash across both cheeks. I did not include this in the post as I was not certain what caused this reaction.

It was burning and itchy and it became slightly swollen. It lasted for 4 days before I went to the doctors where they confirmed I had an allergic reaction to this spray.

I am a fan of Mac, although this frightening and uncomfortable experience I will continue to buy from there.

I have emailed them to ask for a refund or an exchange.

Mac Fix + Worth the hype?

Hey everyone!

On Monday I came home to a delivery from a cheeky Mac order I made the week before. I ordered a cult favourite:  Mac Fix +. This is meant to do many things so the whole of the week I have been testing it out to do a ‘Worth the hype’ post for you all. Enough of the rambling lets just get into it…

First of all can we talk about he gorgeous box it came in! I was tempted to keep it just because I love the box..

Product claims:

A lightweight, mineral rich finishing mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup. Helps create an even surface for a smooth makeup application.

Alcohol free

The idea of this is it is a ‘spray primer’ that makes your skin flawless and more skin like when you have a full face of makeup on. It says to apply before and after makeup application. Personally I have found only applying this before my foundation is the most beneficial. Something I really like about this product also is that it really wakes your skin it and especially when you have to get up early it’s a really nice Product to just spritz on your face.

I do find my makeup doesn’t go patchy with this or fade as much throughout the day.

You can also use this to intensify your eyeshadow stop give them a metallic look. That is my favourite use for this product as it really intensifies any shadow and makes it a whole new one.

It’s a very multi functional product  which makes it even more worth the money.

For the £17 I definetly think its worth it.

What are your thoughts on this product?
UPDATE: I WILL NO LONGER BE USING THIS PRODUCT AS IT HAS BROKEN OUT IN A RED RASH ON MY CHEEKS BECAUSE OF AN ALLERGIC REACTION.

Understanding Mac Foundation Shades

Hey everyone!

So today I wanted to do a more informative post on understanding the concept of the foundation shades at Mac.

I know they can be a little confusing especially at first, What’s Nc? Nw? What’s the difference? Well I actually did some research as I was looking into Mac foundations the other day and here’s what I discovered…

Mac use 5 different shade catogories when it comes to foundation.

  • Nc- Neutral Cool (the most common and known).
  • Nw- Neutral Warm.
  • C- Cool
  • W- warm
  • N- Neutral

All of these categories are  based on the different undertones in the foundation.

Nw- Pinky Beige Undertone

Nc- Golden Beige Undertone

C- Golden/ Olive Undertone

N- Beige (only available in studio fix foundation)

W- Pink

As you may have already noticed the names have either Warm, Neutral Or Cool in them. This is basically part of the undertoned in your skin.

I will briefly go into them..

Warm tones are ones with a more yellow/ caramel  undertone

Cool tones have more of a pink undertones.

To find out more about finding your personal undertone go to Makeup Geeks Website.
The confusing thing with Mac is that they have swapped the tones around. So for instance W and NW have more pink undertones to them and Nc and C have more golden undertones. Generally most people do have warmer skin that is why Nc is well known. Plus most people do not want to be pink which is why they have less selection in the W range.

Back to the catogories then..

C is more for an olive undertones skin, it’s the coolest tone they sell.

Nc is a little more beige but still has very strong underlying yellow tones.

N has neither yellow or pink undertones and is just simply beige.

Nw is the first one that creeps into the pink tones. It has a pink time with a bit of orange for a cool tone.

W has the most pink undertones. This catogorie isn’t usually carried in most foundations as it is least popular and not many want to have a pink base.
Now onto the very confusing numbers that come after the Nw or Nc for instance you would have Nc15. The main thing about these numbers is quite obvious the higher the number the darker the shade.

There are a few numbers that do not end in a 5 or 0 these tend to be more neutral toned.

In some of their foundations such as face and body they use a different system which just ranges from 1-9. The tone is either N or C. Or you could take match master which just has a number system.

Something you need to remember between each different formula of foundation is that the shade numbers do not translate. You might be Nc15 in one foundation and C2 in another. It all depends on the formula. Some oxidise that is the reason you might have a different shade.

Also your concealer shade will genuinely be lighter than your matched foundation.

The only last thing I have to say about choosing your foundation is to match it to your neck. As Jaclyn Hill always says, you don’t want a tanned neck and a stark white face!

Also if you have trouble finding the right shade try Findation.com it lets you put in your current foundations and the shades and matches you to different foundations. It is usually spot on!

Thanks for reading this very long and in depth post!

February Favourites!!

Hey everyone!

Another month of 2016 has just flown by!! I cant believe were now going into March! Anyway I have a fair few products to share with you that I have been loving in the month of February, so lets just get started….

First up is something I mentioned in my high end hall last week. (Side note: I schedule my posts so I’ve been loving this longer than you think) Read here! It’s the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. This is a baked highlighter with a very golden peach colour. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s just gorgeous! I fell inlove with this as soon as I applied it!

Retails: £24
Next is another product I hauled this month in my High end Makeup Haul and it is the Benefit They’re Real Mascara! Previously I have raved about the No7 Lash Volume Control mascara as those of you who follow my blog will know ( I’m always going on about it) but I have found a new love! I think this is equal to my No7 Mascara but I have been reaching for it a lot more than my others. It is so black and it makes your lashes so separated and voluminous. The only thing I’m not so sure on is the brush, I mean I love it because it really separates your lashes but it’s very sharp and trust me stabbing yourself in the eye with it hurts!

Retails: £19:50

Next is a product I have had a while and only recently picked it back up. It is the Maybelline Brow Drama. This is a brow mascara and I have been using this to fill in the front of my brows to give the faded brow effect as my brow pencil is darker. I wouldn’t claim it is brow ‘glue’ but it creates a natural brow look.
Last of all is another thing I hauled this month. I spent a lot of money this month! It is the well known and loved MakeupRevolution Ultra blush Pallete in golden sugar. I won’t go into to much detail as I have done a full review on it Here. But it is full of 8 beautiful shades that give you that gorgeous glow from within.

Thank you for reading. What are your Favorites this month?

HUGE HIGH END MAKEUP HAUL!

Hey everyone!

So a few days ago I went shopping and came back with a lot of makeup and not so much money.

But I thought I would share with you my purchases!
First of all I went into the Mac store and picked up Mac’s soft and gentle. This is a very gorgeous highlight that pretty much suits most skin tones.
Retails: £24

A luxurious, slow-baked, velvety soft, domed face powder with a radiant finish. Strategically buff on to add highlights to the high points of the face, or blend all over for a sheer luminous polish to the skin.

Next in Mac I bought a lipstick. I’m not a massive lipstick fan usually but this colour has changed my opinion. I did apply this on my lips when I got home and I adore the colour!

Retails: £15.50

Next I went into Benefit and boy I spent a lot! Benefit is one of my favourite brands yet there are so many things I haven’t yet tried. So I went in there with the mind set of buying Hoola, which is a bronzer that suits a lot of skin tones. The lovely helper in there was explaining how it never looks orange as it has a lot of red tones in it therefore it looks perfect on the skin. You also get a brush with this which is the softest thing! It’s more a brush for contouring but of course if you just want an all over bronze you can use a different brush.

Retails: £23.50

I was ready to make my purchase when she informed me if I bought another product I would get a lot of freebies! Who doesn’t love freebies??? So I picked up the Push up liner and then found out I could get a travel size liner, the matching mascara and remover for the same price. The liner I’ve actually tested on the back of my hand, it is so black and easy to use hopefully it does as well on the eyes!

£18.50

In the set I also got the Theyre real mascara. I have heard a lot of reviews on this and most seem to be positive.

£19.50

The last thing in the set is the Theyre real remover. I had not heared of this before but it apparently removed any they’re real products on your face.

Full size: £14.50

Now on to the freebies…

First off I got the Hello Flawless Oxygen wow! Honestly I had no idea what this was for and did have to research it.

Our brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in. It’s you…just more luminous & healthy looking.
Oil-free

Hydrating benefits

Broad-spectrum SPF 25 PA+++ *

Turns out it was a foundation, yes I know seems obvious but in a mini size like that i really had no idea. It is meant to be illuminating and basically a sunscreen that makes you look healthy. I will be very interested to try this out.

Full size: £26.50

Another mascara I got was a big want for me as I’ve heared nothing but good reviews about it. It’s the roller lash mascara. I am so excited to try this mascara!

Full size price: £19.50

Next I got a a tester of the porefessional primer. I am very excited to give this a go since I have never purchased in a primer before.

Full size: £31.50

Last of all I got the big easy Bb cream. Again I wasn’t too sure on this product so I looked it up.

BIGGER than BB! big easy balances moisture & controls oil. The cushiony liquid-to-powder formula melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight & velvety like a powder.
This multi-balancing, oil-free complexion perfector gives natural coverage to even out skintone and conceal imperfections. Even better, the non-comedogenic formula contains ingredients known to soothe & comfort the skin and help fight free radicals.

Full size price: £28.50
Thanks for reading! If you have any of these offices please tell me your thoughts!

Mac Zoom black fast lash review

Hi everyone!

So today Im doing another review! This time its on the Mac Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara.

I recieved this for christmas and I have mixed feelings on it. I love the drama it adds to your lashes and let me tell you this fella is very black! I have never had a mascara this black before and it definatly draws attention to your eyes. It is a bit clumpy if you apply to much which is a downside for me as clumpy lashes are not my biggest lover. But if applied carfully the results are great! It lenghthens and volumises but I do only suggest applying one coat of it as it can get very clumpy.

It is described on the website as:

Deeply dark drama. Same as Zoom Lash, but with carbon black pigment. Saturates lashes with the richest black ever. Creamy, velvety formula builds density and conditions. Feels supple, light, flexible. Ultra-sculpted brush embraces and separates each lash, hugging every curve.

This retails for £15.

I do reccomend it if you love big, attention seeking lashes! Or if you cant quite find a mascara that is completely black!

Tell me your thoughts on this product below!

January Favourites 2016!

Hey everyone!

January went by so quickly! I swear Christmas was just yesterday! I’ve loved a lot of new products this month so let’s just get into it…

First up is the Benefit See&Be seen, Sasha perfume ! I have a full blog post on this soon so look out for that! But it has a very floral scent but it isn’t over powering which I love. It’s all I’ve worn in January !
img_1926Next is another Benefit product!

This is their ‘Lip Colour’ I have mine in Air Kiss which is a Sheer formulation. It’s so beautiful and it’s staying power is amazing!

Read my full review on it here!
Next is something I think you will all be surprised at since I dislike the Wake me up Foundation.

Read that here
This has glitter in it, like the foundation and if you guys know me, I hate glitter in my foundation or concealer etc. But I have found this concealer to be an excellent primer. Once set with powder, it makes an amazing base for your eyeshadow!

img_1645-1Next is something I raved about on my blog as soon as I got it.
Read here!
It’s the much loved, Urban Decay Naked Pallete. This is full of bronze undertoned colours. I chose this one over the others because bronze and golds really make blue eyes stand out! The formulation of these are so pigmented and buttery. They blend super easily. I really recommend this!

Last but not least is the real techniques expert face brush! I admit, when I first used this I didn’t get along with it because it left my foundation streaky. But I was experimenting with different brushes the other day and I found this one is amazing for contour! You wouldn’t think it when you look at it but I haven’t used any other brush to contour since!
Thank you all so much for reading! Tell me your favourites this month down below! 🙂

Mac Peache Luxe Pallete

Hey everyone!

So today I’m back with a review! This review is on the Mac Peache Luxe eyeshadow pallete. This is the most beautiful pallete I have seen. It has 5 stunning shimmer shades in it and just by the look of it, I instantly fell in love.

This was featured in my What I got for Christmas post.

This pallete is so beautiful, it has all shimmer colours in. A brown, green, pink, gold and white.

These are all extremely pigmented and shimmery with minimal fallout.

Personally, I use them over the top of other shadows to make them stand out more. Usually I use my Naked pallete or Maybelline Nudes and over the top of them shadows it makes a statement. It also is nice as a light wash of colour on your lids if your in a rush.

This retails for £30.

And is described on the website as:

Five complementary peachy shades in one convenient palette that glide on and blend beautifully. Unlike most powders that are pressed into traditional metal pans, this revolutionary product combines liquid and powder into a luxurious mixture that’s carefully baked for three to 12 hours. Starts as a powder on eyes and turns into a creamy texture after just a few seconds. Creates a new magnifying glass effect allowing pigments to be revealed in their full intensity. It includes beautiful finishes from low lustres to high metallics in one palette.

KEY CLAIMS AND BENEFITS

Long-wearing, eight hours

Sweat- and humidity-resistant

Can be used wet or dry

Crease-proof and fade-proof

Ophthalmologist tested

I love this product! I really recommend it to all of you eyeshadow lovers.
